Deposit

Funding a third-party account; external payment and platform credit may occur at different stages.

Concept and usage

Funding a third-party account; external payment and platform credit may occur at different stages.[1][2]

In context

A deposit moves money or a priced asset toward a third-party account. A message that payment was submitted may precede acceptance by the payment service, receipt by the recipient and an updated account balance.[1][2]

Common confusion

A deposit is not synonymous with authorization, blockchain confirmation or platform credit. When services use the same word “complete” for different stages, examine the status definition, timestamp and transaction identifier.[1][2]

Example

If a card statement shows a charge while a third-party balance remains unchanged, the records answer different questions. Keep the receipt and service transaction ID, then use the official support route instead of sending another payment as a test.[1][2]
