Platform Compatibility
The scope of device, browser and operating-system support, verified for specific versions.
Concept and usage
The scope of device, browser and operating-system support, verified for specific versions.[1][2][3]
In context
Platform compatibility describes support across browsers, operating systems, devices or assistive technologies. It can change with software, region, hardware and service updates, so a useful claim names the tested environment and date.[1][2][3]
Common confusion
A responsive layout only adapts presentation to available space. It does not prove that sign-in, payment, tables or every game interaction works. Compatibility, regional availability and service policy are separate data fields.[1][2][3]
Example
A useful matrix names an environment such as a particular Safari on iOS or Chrome on Android instead of saying “mobile supported.” Untested combinations remain unknown rather than being mislabeled unsupported. Record device, operating system, browser and release; leave untested combinations unknown.[1][2][3]
